Want a cute way to save your child’s baby things?
I’m not a very crafty person (my creative skills are mostly in photography, and that’s it), but once in a while I surprise myself, and come up with something at least a little cute. My idea for a Baby Bottle Keepsake came during one of my “keep-or-toss” sessions with Little Boy’s clothes. Since he is our “one and only,” I am keeping a few items of his from different stages – newborn, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, etc. Kids really do grow up fast, and since we won’t have the blessing of another baby, I want to cherish every milestone I can with our son.
Anyway, I was trying to make sense of his super-tiny baby-sized socks and mittens, and as I also had saved a couple of his baby bottles, I thought, why not save a little space – while not losing these small items – and put the little items in one of the baby bottles? We had already filled a baby bottle with sand from Little Boy’s first trip to Cancun, so why not make a bottle with some of his most-used socks and mittens – ones that would “take me back” when I looked at them?
It’s a super-simple thing to put together, but I think it will provide you with wonderful memories for years to come, in a very small space – so whether you have one child or six, make a bottle for each one!
Baby Bottle Keepsake
What you’ll need:
Baby bottle (I used the “fattest” ones we used with Little Boy, like these Avent ones
Assortment of small items your baby used (for me, I used mainly baby socks like these and newborn mittens, but feel free to throw in other tiny things that best represent your child at that point in time, like maybe even a pacifier holder– I might try to squeeze one into my son’s bottle – or his hair from his first haircut, now that I think about it!)
All you need to do is spread the items out……..
…….And then you’ll gradually add and push them into the bottle.
You want to try to do it so you can see at least a peak of each item when you look at the bottle.
And there you have it – a small momento (actually “memento” but the word is often spelled “momento” – fun fact I just learned writing up this post!) of your child’s things when he/she was a baby! Enjoy!
